To begin with, 20 hrs played so far, and this is my first Larian game experience. I must say this, you guys did a wonderful job. As a person who has about 2 yrs of D&D TRPG experience (though it was quite a time ago), I really love your effort to make this game based on 5e rules with some editions.

I think several other people already suggested this, but if there is a modding tool, something like NWN1's one, that would be terrific. I have no experience of Larian game before, so I have no idea how effective or useful the Larian game's modding tools were. But what I can say is, NWN 1's modding tool was so great and very easy to approach. It was possible to make modder's own world, campaign, and quest. Here's what I wish:

- Provide BG3 maps plus additional maps for modding.
- Random small-geometry and object generator for map.
- Easy and simple map editor for modders who wish to make their own world and quest.
- Enables the design and planning of event trigger and battle trigger, conditions to success/failiure of the quests and combat.
- Enables to write texts and sync the voice/music for quest and NPC dialogue. (Voice/music should be optional, not required)
- BG3 3D objects + enable to import/support other 3D model formats.
- Character / NPC / monster editor, but even the current version's BG3 character editor could cover this.
etc...

It does not necesarrily need to exactly follow this list, as these are just examples I think. But you should be able to see the idea of "DM mod" behind my suggestions.

I wouldn't mind if such "DM mod" modding tool costs $60 as a DLC of BG3. I would still purchase this on top of BG3.

With a tool like this, a lot of TRPG players will be greatly interested in this game and this tool, as people could design their own world and their own quest. I can see people will try a series of quests or interesting mini games, like mystery/horror/detective genre stories in D&D 5e rules and background. Or, some group of people would try a really big mod with a lot of NPCs. Or people may develop their own new sub/minor quests in BG3 as BG3 mods...

Important thing is such tool should be easy and straight forward with a good GUI. This will make a lot of players to imagine and write their own story, and they will feel less-burdened. But built-in script option would be perfect for advanced modders.

I'm not sure if Larian is interested in such idea, but I really wish they do. I have no Larian game experience, but I heard DOS2 offered a very good modding tool, so I'm glad that Larian is not hostile towards player contents. I'm not sure how much would it be difficult for Larian to upgrade their DOS2 modding tool further to the level of "DM mod", but if they can acheive this, that would be great for $$$ and for the spread of Larian-style CRPG. This will increase potential number of Larian game players.

It is not a RPG game, but I tried DOOM's Snapmap. That was cool. But Snapmap is just a level/dungeon design tool, not for a creation of quests or storyline with a lot of NPCs. So, I believe and I wish Larian can achieve even further, deeper, and better one than Snapmap, something like NWN1's one.

I would love some aurora engine like creation tools. Considering NWN1 still has fan content being made for it 18 years on, would be nice if we could have a new DnD game in a modern engine that would allow for fan creations with a module type system.

Biggest problem I would say isn't Larian deciding to do it, but probably WotC (Hasbro) agreeing to tools that would allow fans to create free content. But then again NWN had premium paid modules, so it could work out well for them.

I think WotC will be convinced that BG3 and such "DM mod" maker could even widespread the fanbase of D&D. I'm one of the example, as my first motivation to purchase and try D&D TRPG was PC games like old BG series, NWN, and Torment. To my understanding, the 5e is developed in an effort to widespread of the D&D fanbase, and it is working IMO. BG3 and "DM mod" modding tool would help to increase the fanbase and advertise the "D&D" contents even further. BG3 sold more than 2M copy now, even in EA. Full version with such tool will bring more intention of potential RPG/TRPG players.

About the licensing, yeah, I agree that the example of NWN1 would work as well. Or lawyers of each side would find a better model. I'm ready to pay more for such mods and modules, as I mentioned I'm willing to invest additional $60 for such "DM mod" DLC.

Please god, let them actually fix the current bugs, release the rest of the content, fix THOSE bugs, THEN get out a mod tool. Please.

Of course, I'm talking about the situation after full release. Mod tool before full release is not that useful anyway.
