The reply from GOG customer service was that they will not always provide standalone patches - depends on complexity and size. Whilst this is ok for a finished game which is updated infrequently, there is no way I can endure this for early access title that's updated 3 times a week.

I had the same issue with GOG over Kingdom Come Deliverance, where every now and then they would abandon standalone patches and just replace the whole installation set. If you played that game, you know how large the install files are. I just don't see why I should re-download 40, 50, 60 GB on a regular basis - sounds like sloppy work that is only tolerated because most players are on 100 MBit+ connections and don't care. I no longer have one where I live and hence get really irritated by this.

Thanks for the clarification. I am sorry to hear that your internet connection won't allow you to download the entire game on a regular basis. I chose GOG because of FCK DRM and the fact that I can download offline installer files without the need for a launcher/client software. That being said, you could use GOG Galaxy just to let it update BG3 (you won't have to start it to actually play the game) and it will only download the files needed to update the game, not the entire installation. I understand that this is still not optimal based on your preference but maybe it would be an acceptable compromise for your during early access? I still hope that Larian will release as many offline patches as possible, though.
