You'll have two more chances to convince her, so keep exploring smile

Unrequited love...such a sad thing grin

Shadowheart has a personality that suits her mechanics in the game. Both horrible. She's far the weakest companion and Larian should at least re-stat her to make her relevant (ie. str/dex swap that would fit her thematically). But keep at it, behind those thorns there is apparently a rose waiting to be discovered!

Really? I found romancing her to be the easiest of them all

The best tip I can give you is to always favour dialogue choices that are focused on solving the tadpole situation. Also, there are certain places on the map that will trigger conversations with her if want

I'm impressed you managed to pull up with Shadow Heart. She died almost instantly in my first playthrough. It was the best solution for....both of us. At least my tadpole believes so. The voice actress of Shadow Heart is bonkers but her dialogues are just needlessly passive-aggressive if you're not an evil character. When you are the dialogue turns out way more natural gotta admit.

Alt+ left click in the inventory on an item while the camp stash is opened transfers the item there. Make it a reality.

I have to admit I get confused by people who say said character died?! Becasue we have plenty of Rez scrolls and the undead companion in camp... oh I guess one might not have found him, no idea what happens if you only find that guy later after party members have died?!

There are cases when you can't do that, like when you kill them before they join.

It's a good way to get rid of companions you don't want, because the game is bugged for now, and they could still show up at camp later. Otherwise would be no need to do it.

She is quite tricky to romance if she refuses to join your party.

True. Being gith and trying to bone shadowheart supposed to be some kind of an oxymoron though

I have been playing as a wood elf and she refused my party too, because Lae'zel was already in it. You don't need to be a Gith yourself for her to refuse.

(In my case, I don't want her anyway, since my main character is a cleric. So not a problem.)

I'm really confused how Shadowheart refuses your party (unless you are a Gith). I've played 10 games and every time you just walk up to her, say lets work together, and she joins you. ?? I guess I've never picked up Lae'zel first . . . but you really have to go out of your way to do that.

I just want to add. . . usually players are complaining that there isn't enough reactivity to our character class and race choices. But if we choose to play a Gith or Drow . . . we should expect that to have consequences. So I'm all in favor of some companions rejecting of because of who we are.

If you turn the other direction at the downed ship at the start, you can miss Shadowheart on the beach. Then you come to Lae'zel first. I suppose most people know where Shadowheart is because of the promo videos, so go to her right away.

If she refuses to join you, she goes to the Druid camp and hangs out there. So you can talk to her again and ask her to join you again. Then there are some persuasion checks that I failed. I could have save scummed, but didn't, and I presume if I had told Lae'zel to go back to the camp before speaking there wouldn't have been an issue.

She can have the highest AC of all characters if I recall correctly with spirit armour and mirror image, plus she can charm and guide people making skillchecks much more likely. The decoy spell works pretty nice, too. The mass sneak spell is also pretty good in certain situations. She is decent in melee, too, and isn't healing word only a bonus action? So you can heal and pick a party member up at the same time. But yeah +1 dex and +1 con would not hurt. She can still dish out some ranged damage with her two ranged spells with a decent hit chance, when you have height advantage.
She is rest intensive, though, I'll give you that, if you do not rest a lot she will be dead weight.

Yes for pure combat she is on the weaker side. But she has lots of utility. At 4th level I always give her the +1 dex and +1 con which fixes most things. She also has disguise self which can open up opportunities.
I suspect a lot of people overlook Guidance (in part because the conversation tips don't clearly display its impact) . . . its totally awesome and should be kept up all the time on your lead character.

On my first Gith playthrough I convinced her with a nat 20, which was awesome.

On my next two Gith play throughs she didn't make it off the beach. Her armor is a great early upgrade even if it looks hideous on anyone not her.

Also, she is an incredibly easy fight. Like... My Gith Muscle Wizard one shot her with a longsword. My Gith dual wielder ranger took her out on the second round without being hit once.

Not a great performance for someone who was just going on about how she'd kill me seconds ago.
