It should give drow a disadvantage in sunlight though (Sunlight sensitivity). To make it fair I think there should be a trade off for all races, due to how many dark areas there are in this game, but that of course also depends on the rest of the game.

On a side-note, this (dis-)advantage would be even more noticeable with a day-night cycle.

Each race have different racial bonus (dark vision, ability bonus, speed) so you don't get your dark vision for free (I hope so) !

But I don't know what's the official rule about these race and how Larian balanced it considering that's there is no day-night cycle actually (that's another story).

As far as I know, creatures with superior darkvision also have sunlight sensitivity. I didn't notice any of that with my drow though, while fighting in sunlight. Duergar and drow have superior darkvision.

Yes, and?

I am here to discuss a video game. Please do not try to rope me into anything other than that. Thank you.

In my human warlock character, I was able to see in the dark at one point. I think I might of had a necklace on or I got some type of blessing but I agree that it is a disadvantage to not be able to see your surrounding. I agree that it is a disadvantage as a human, I have to switch to Shadowheart or Astarion to see in the dark.

The light cantrip should be better, and there should be light scrolls easily available in case for some reason no one in the party has it.

There's an amulet that's fairly easy to get early on that lets you cast dancing lights as a bonus action.

But drow dark vision is really good though, I would not give it up for a torch.

but you gotta do that candle drop thing to dip a sword at the beginning of every fight.

whereas you can just dual wield torches for most of the game and do more damage than anything else with a high str character for most of the game.

Yeah but unlike other weapons, torches stay on fire, not just 2 turns, permanently, unless you're hit by water.
