Like, who even knew???

Like I also had no clue when he got killed by standing in a river, like seriously Larion you made such a bug that only one of my characters gets killed by running water?

So like does anyone also know that Shadowheart is a Cleric of Shar? And that wyll is a Warlock who made a deal with the devil? You know like all the things that are literally written in every bit of source material about this game as well as it actually saying those things in their character panels?

Wow, I never knew!!! (Do I even need a /S?).

Next thing you'll be telling me is that water is wet.

I was wondering when you would make an appearance and here you are!!!

P.S. Water is wet

Another nice detail is that you can pet the dog. My game was totally spoiled when everyone was talking about that without spoiler tags.

Just want to add that this is getting ridiculous in these forums where we act like petty children. I said nothing wrong in my initial comment. I didn't say what Astarion was. All I said what that there was "another" reason but you DnD apologist are harassing me for making a comment you think is wrong. I'll admit that I am new to DnD and don't know all the lore. Yes, I knew that Astarion is a vampire and perhaps the OP knew as well BUT what IF they did not. You don't know if they did but instead of you guys talking nicely to me, you're all acting condescending and being sarcastic which is unnecessary. This is what creates a toxic community and something game developers are trying to avoid.

Guys, if the OP didn't need to express their thoughts, then you didn't need to express yours in replies either. Behave people, the world doesn't need to abide to how you want it to be, nor will it. So leave your attitude at the door.

Thank you for trying to be courteous with spoilers, Lady Avyna.

I wonder if you read what was going on...

Two people were trying to bring the thread back to the topic at hand, and it looks like you didn't even read what was going on.

What was the topic at hand because it seems like you and the others were making a big deal about my initial post which contained no spoilers?

Are you really going to continue needlessly arguing, after I call out needless argumentativeness and ask for it to stop?

Please.

My intention was to not start an argument and if so, I apologize. We shouldn’t be picking on each other based on our responses. We should all have cordial discussions without putting anyone down. We can all learn from each other in these forums.

ok first of all I'm aware Asteron is a vampire. secondly I was refering to if the player is an elf in this case. I was simply commenting that it was a nice detail on the designers part because, AFAIK no one D&D game has actually done that, so.. good for them

I seem to remember when reading the 5e rules that half-elves don't need sleep either. But, Shadowheart...

Back on topic-- yes! Good job Larion, with all the little nods to lore reflected in game mechanics!

All elves don't sleep; they enter trance, and that's reflected in camp by them sitting upright in a meditative pose. In Astarion's specific case, regarding his 'otherness', it's amusing to see him take acid damage when he crosses rivers. wink Thanks , Larion, for being awesome

It's not that rare for people not to know that elves can't sleep. One NPC in the game obviously does not know.

I sometimes use thought experiments. I don't necessarily believe in every idea I post for discussion on this forum

I wasn't trying to upset you. I was actually trying to give a spoil free little detail because I know not everyone is a DnD player and I didn't know if you were. I'm fairly new myself. I agree with the other person that not everyone will know that elves don't sleep. I've only heard about them not needing sleep from DnD lore because in other fantasy settings they do sleep.

To be honest, I can think of few instances where vampires do not need to sleep - and those usually involve exceptionally old and/or powerful vampires. Now is Asterion slept handing from a tree, upside down by his feet THAT would be something entertaining.

Elven trance is a nice touch though, one I can't recall seeing portrayed in other RPG's.

Need to check dwarves for agoraphobia now - maybe they like sleeping on a rock?

And by the way - SPOILER ALERT - water is....(anticipation builds) WET!!!

Do you have proof of that?

Vampires sleeping; well the traditions vary but D&D seems to mainly use the Gothic vampire template as made famous by Bram Stoker, so our vampires 'should' be sleeping in coffins during the day, on their mother earth. Astarion is different, of course, and so we don't really know what his sleeping arrangements are. Maybe he is indulging in elven reverie now that his vampiric habits are all confused, or maybe he is just passing time until everyone wakes up.

Hanging upside-down from a tree would be hilarious.

Ha, "The Argument Clinic" is one of the funniest skits Monty Python has ever done! You can see it on YouTube.

I've always believed that vampires sleep in their coffins. But on the other hand, they never seem to yawn or stretch when they arise, so maybe they've just been meditating the whole time.
