I wouldn't mind if we all start with craptastic gear, but I'd also like to gain my class gear either by the end of the Prologue, or early on in Act 1.
Not having access to heavy armor severely hampers builds that don't want to rely on Dexterity. Heck starting with "damaged Ring mail" with AC12 would at least be something. Not keen on running around with a fighter built for melee with AC9
