I did the same. Because I got a Perception check about the cabinet.
(There is something to open it up there by the way, but the area isn't the same as the one you jumped into)
Right, I'm talking about down in the area after you open up that cabinet. There's also a quest for that area if you didn't know. Trying to avoid spoilers ;p
