Wandering around a dark tower on my Human character, I find myself activating a lot of the ambient light sources in the game to brighten up the play areas and see better. I know that they put both Dancing Lights and Light cantrips in the game. The darkvision spell doesnt seem to work yet but I realize thats an option as well. yet I still find myself just activating the torches and candles because themakes the rooms look neater with the ambient light rockin... plus it often solves the darkness problem without darkvision.
Presdigitation is a cantrip in 5e with many uses. Minor illusion already fits the role of "distraction" effect but after the number of lights I have manually clicked, I got to thinking, Presdigitation could be very useful in this game simply as a means to activate environmental lighting effects light candles and torches. So here is an idea for a version of Presdigitation that could be nice to use in this game.
Presdigitation - activate all candles, torches and fireplaces within range
This is a function of the spell in 5e, I think in this setting, this could be a good application of the spell. A lot of players like to avoid the light spell because it lights your character up. This kinda of puts a damper on stealth. Although I do not think this is an issue in this game with the "sight cone" mechanic. Either way, I personally have found myself manually lighting up the wall torches to make a room more visible in general.
The 5e spell lets you light or put out candles, torches, etc. It may be a good idea to give this cantrip a kind of sub menu like Hex has for the different ability scores. This would allow a "lights on/ lights off" dynamic so that arcane tricksters may also find usage by darkening rooms. Personally I think this would be a more fun way to handle stealth… but even without the lights off variation, the "lights on" function would be very much welcomed. It could be single target as well (anything is better than running up and touching each and every light source) but I think it would be way cooler if the spell just light up every candle, wall torch and fireplace within range.
This is not some game breaking necessity, theres plenty of things that need focus at this stage in development. Just an idea that came up after about the 200th wall torch that I have walked up to and clicked manually. Imagine how OP mass torchlighting would be!
