Geralts sword+ scabbard in the netflix series is very specialized. And you are right, they work fine for drawing from the back.
However. The steel/silver sword and scabbard from fx. Witcher 3 wildhunt computer game can absolutely NOT be drawn easily from the back. I own a steelsword+scabbard replica and tried to make it work. It does not
Edit: Im not saying all weapons should be worn on the side. But right now its pretty much the other way around, which is just as silly as a greatsword in a side-scabbard
