Think Shad said that back scabbard was more comfortable for 'on the road' but would be abit more ungainly if you need to draw it really quikly.
On the other hand, we are playing in a fantasy setting where practicing to draw your sword really quikly sounds like a very big advantage to have as a skill and people got the time to do it....
