I was jsut thinking about this and I see no reason why those goblins need to find that grove, take it and kill all tieflings.

The goblins want it because they are chaotic evil and think raiding is fun. The real reason behind it is whatever Minthara was instructed of by the Absolute, but AFAIK we can never find out about that.

The best answer I can give you is that apparently Although I have no idea if that is true.

But why Absolute want destroy grove? There must be reason for her to do something like this. What is in grove that we didn't know or what realyl tielfling planning to do in Baldur's Gate? What if all of them are Devil lords spies?

Whatever it is, I have not been able to find out in over 60 hours of gameplay. That includes a run where I partake in destroying the grove, which led to;

Why the goblins want to do this is obvious, and why the Absolute needs it is a secret that remained unanswered

Well ... i gues idol of Silvanus is powerfull magic item ...
That alone seem like pretty good reason.

More i just wonder how can they still not know its there (or where exactly it is) ... even if i look away from their numbers, wich means they should be able to find it in matter of few days tops if they start to just randomly running around ... there are goblins litteraly few steppes away from it in middle of the secret passage!

Minthara says they are unbelievers and anyone not following the absolute needs to be destroyed in a display of power
