I have an issue where I cannot hear any dialogue in the actual character to character cutscenes.

Combat banter? Audible. Random banter walking around? Audible. All spell effects, movement sounds, jumping noises etc... Audible. Want to talk to any NPC with their own dialogue? Completely mute, no dialogue happens at all. This is happening in both single player and multiplayer games, across all of my saves (new ones included). Their mouths animate for the conversation, the subtitles are visible, but no audio comes out within conversations.

I've triple checked my settings, verified integrity of game files, uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I'm at a loss as to how to fix this or even start. Has anyone else experienced this?

You very likely have either a headset who has surround, emulates surround, or has a setting on your computer that attempts to emulate surround.

Open up your sound control panel and click configure speakers.

Make sure it's set to stereo.

If that doesn't work, check which brand and model your headset it, and make sure its drivers is up to date, and check any thirdparty software it might have come with.

Ahhh! That is such an odd issue. It was exactly the emulation of surround sound! Thank you so much!

I didn't even think of that to be an issue, what causes this kind of thing to happen?

I'm not sure, could be many thing I suppose. All I know is that this has always been the fix when people've had similar issues 😁
