I realise you have to have jumps and jumping available in the game.

The way you have implemented it is just plain tedious.

For instance, in the Hag Cave when I have to jump through the waterfall, I have to Manually jump every character across. Why? For what purpose does this serve? Not only that but you have to click the Jump action and then use a reticle.


I would say in free exploration mode you should have it where if the main character youre controlling jumps, all of your characters jump automatically.

You have 2 options if you DONT want them all to jump:

A) You can unlink them so they dont follow.
B) You can enter turn based mode




I'm currently also trying Solasta: Crown of the Magister atm and I much prefer their jumping system. Based on your STR score you are able to jump X amount of cells (they use cells rather than the string-meter method...although i do like the meter method). When you click on a space your character automatically jumps there if they have the STR + Athletics to do so. No having to push a JUMP button. No having to use a targeted reticle. Its much smoother and better.

I think it is tediouse to jump with eatch character. Why can I not jump with one and all others follow? so yes I am with you on that.

I think they havent implemented the party jump yet but its code seems to be in the game. 'Us' from the start of the game could do it so im not sure why the companions cant...

Whenever the game tells you "Jump to reach destination" outside combat... it should just automatically jump everyone there. If they have enough strength.

Not to mention:

Most jumps are very "narrow" you don't have a huge area to land on... and other characters will get in the way of eachother when jumping.

I like the idea, but yes, the implementation is a bit bothersome.


Would also like to see some indication of if a jump is dangerous or not. It's not always clear if you will take fall damage...

The "jump to explore" floating tip is also misleading and ubiquitous. There's rarely anything to explore like that. More likely you're going to crash and die prone on rocks while the camera goes full spaz mode.

Agreed, it should be handled just like the Us brain in the prologue. Companions should just warp to position if they're chained.

Having companions block movement or jumps is wildly frustrating. There's no need for that at all! Party members shouldn't body block each other. Body blocking hostile enemies or neutrals sure, but not fellow party members or summons or friendlies.

Its so silly that you can be trapped by your own party members, especially in TB combat. Having a party member simply step aside to let you pass by would make a lot more sense than like jumping over your companions again and again, and wasting an action cause its the only way to not have the path interrupted or redirected.

In the ongoing series of BG3 needs to be more like 5e: Characters can run through friendly characters in combat, but not end in each others space. I'd much rather have that implemented than keeping the Jump as a bonus action in combat.

Jump is so much better in Solasta. They should copy it ASAP.
