I rarely buy consumables because I'm such a miserly player that I would rather hold onto a big bag of gold than effectively throw money at my enemies. There are situations where magical or special ammunition will really get you out of a hole, but I'd rather be sitting there in my fingerless gloves counting out the shiny coins.
I don't tend to use consumables much at all, in fact. It's just not my playstyle (i'm also terrible at ignoring short-term spell buffs). In games like BDO and GW2, I end up crafting potions and consumables in bulk and just selling them, but I know other players who rely on such buffs to tank through the game.
You and I really do think alike lol. I too am a coin hoarder. Wish I was as good at saving money IRL lol!
