1. I try hit some one I need to throw 1d20 and roll enemy AC value or more. Yes?
So if enemy have 9 AC I need roll 9 or more.

2. So if I have +5 to throw then I need roll only 4 to hit enemy with 9 AC?

3. Can I have more than +5 bonus to roll check? If yes the what if I will get +10 bo us when enemy have 9 AC. Do I hit him without roll?

4. Crit damage is only if I roll 20 or there are other wayw to crit?

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. You can. But you always roll because 1 on a d20 is always a failure.

4. Crits depends on the weapon. Usually it's on a 20, but some crit on a 19 and 20.

Your maximum to hit bonus from the relevant stat is +5 for most characters (level 20 barbarian can go higher). This not the maximum bonus though. You also have your proficiency bonus as well as bonuses from magic gear or spells. By the end of the game, depending on what the level cap is, martial characters could be walking around with at least +12 hit bonuses.

No matter how high your to-hit bonus and how low the enemy AC is, a roll of 1 always misses, so you can never just auto hit.

But you can either hit, or critticaly miss, you will never "just miss" anymore (unless you met enemies with incredibly high AC ofc) ... that still seem like good deal to me.

really don't like hit chance, i mean, i get the idea that you can look at what the characters bonuses are vs the target AC and determine a % chance of success, but it kind of feels like it just occludes things. If you want to tell players the chance of success, include AC of target in their examine window and indicate adv or disadv and total attack bonus instead. I dunno. Feels weird.

Some GMs will do just that - tell you the AC you are facing and then explain any modifiers. Some just tell you the number you are looking to beat. It a feature/problem of everything being reduced to numbers and mathematical mechanics.

Without taking a look at the code it's hard to say.

I am here to discuss a video game. Please do not try to rope me into anything other than that. Thank you.

Kingmaker turn based mode has UI feature I like - when you attack it shows what you rolled versus what you need to roll (so for example "12vs15 miss"). Like in BG3 conversation checks it modifies AC with out bonuses. For me such indicator "vs9" or "2x vs9" for an advantage, would be far more helpful at a glance then a percentage. I would like for it to be an option.
