I keep needing to remind my players of this in TT RPGs. Sure, you can play a goblin/hitman/demonologist, but the world in which the campaign is set is likely to view you as the enemy, or at least as someone not to be trusted.

Some people enjoy the challenge of either hiding their identity or avoiding civilisation, but this would be almost impossible to implement in a CRPG.

Perhaps, if BG3 goes well, Larian might consider making a flip-side CRPG where you play the bad guys and monsters seeking to thwart the interfering plans of the good guys. A sort of GTA with kobolds.
