Honestly? If anything I think we need companions with the aesthetic of do-gooding more than we need them to be nice folks.

For a world with as diverse and vibrant as the forgotten realms, we're definitely seeing much more of the spooky side of things. Having played Dos2, I suspect that a dark aesthetic is a personal preference by the creative team, but there's always going folks like me who prefer Protector Aasimar Bards, Human Devotion Paladins and Tabaxi Druids over the alternative.

When it comes to expanded class options, I've always loved Celestial Warlocks and Divine Soul Sorcerers because there's something nice about charisma based characters related to respected celestial powers.

I do like morally ambiguous characters, I'm just not into grimdark.
