Come to think of it, the Absolute (?) saving you at the end of the Nautiloid section is a HUGE deus ex machina that is never addressed or explained. The story kind of dies in its cradle because of that, lol.

I really doubt the Absolute was the one to save our party... I'd go with some tadpole self-preservation mechanism or Avernus based (Raphael?) intervention.

From what I gathered everyone in the pods was meant to be delivered for further processing (indoctrination) to Moonrise Towers, due to our little plane crash we've found ourselves outside the pods and scrambled out before they could come to collect us - which they obviously did with the other survivors (btw judging from postsign at Mountain pass the Moonlight Towers are to the west just like the corpse on the beach said). So now they are looking for stragglers which are to be eliminated on sight (though that search party was really kinda pathetic).

Going by all other "True Souls" we meet the memory of abduction and tadpole implantation is supposed to be supressed as they all believe they'd been given powers from the Absolute at initiation in Moonrise Towers (no insight on anything inside their brain).
