Honestly since you can trade / use / whatever from the inventory screen during combats, not see why there is individual inventories. If that going to stay, just do a party stash and be done with it. If they do a party stash, give me tabs to I can management it better.
I don't mind encumbrance, but my suggestion is that since we have "magic pockets" we should share one inventory, and have a shared encumbrance threshold.
I quite liked the luggage imp from Sacred 2.
