I've got 50 hours into the game so far and I'm very impressed with it.

I'm very, very impressed by the game so far. Definitely needs polish, but so far most of the elements that are there work very well. I am definitely getting mega nostalgia for BG and BG2, which is a good thing. The combat system is different enough to be unique, but I still get whiffs of the BG2 style. I really don't like the grouping mechanic just cause I've had my people trigger traps and battles because I forgot to ungroup the rogue. If there's a hotkey to group and ungroup that would be good, I haven't looked yet.

This is not a feedback post about game mechanics though. This is a post to say please don't leave this game in early access forever! It's already well worth the $60 in terms of content. I know it's tempting to polish the game to infinity and beyond, but I think with the resources you've received in pre-release sales it seems reasonable to move up the timeline.

I'm very tempted to go back and play BG2 and also pick up DOS2 just so I don't spoil too much of BG3, but I don't want to have to wait for a whole year or to play the whole thing!!

Keep it up!

+1 ...loving it too but for me ea can stay for as long is as required to make this the best d&d version computer game ever.
I think ea is only covering act 1 but more & more content I.e classes will be released & maybe a few surprises or gameplay mechanic changes ..

Agreed. If they wanted to stay in EA for 3 years to make the perfect game, that would be awesome. Don't see that happening, but I'm definitely in the camp of them taking the time they want/need to make the game into their image. So many potentially amazing games have gotten over rushed in the past decade.

I don't like games that stay in EA for ages. They are basically like an MMO and the company just milks the community for more money. Look at the Witcher 3, it was an enormous game and fully released with two DLCs after. I don't like playing a section and then having to wait however long to play the next section and the next.

True - it isn’t the usual thing I like but I think it is becoming more of an acceptable practice as developers push the boundaries in AAA releases ( not all of them). But in this case BG3 could be the making of Larian Studios & I think they are throwing the whole kit & kaboodle at it.
If you look at the and attention already & we aren’t even into the heart of the story or spells/abilities/ creatures - this done right will set a whole new standard - if they need time to do that I’m in - I think they will do updates etc too
