Pre-patch you could leave the area and come back again for new checks in most places. Not sure now. I make sure there is a high-peception character in the party all the time. (automatic checks)
As for interaction checks (e.g. druid sanctum murals) they seem to be available once per party member or once per human part member (multiplayer). I haven't had any option to interact with them again.
