How about we make it so you can only fast travel to camp at a waypoint? So far I have only found 1 spot that fast travel is disable to the camp. Good on that.

So change fast travel to waypoints only.
Give us two short rests.

This overall would just down right feel better.

That would mean no resting in a long dungeon or other underground area.

I know some D&D fans would prefer that, but what's good about the current design is that players can choose their own difficulty level by how often they teleport to camp. A newbie might need to do it several times before reaching the end of a big dungeon. A more experienced player might be able to make it all the way to the end of the dungeon without resting. Larian can make dungeons any size they want, without having to build in resting areas or design it for some "average" player.

I think the worst thing about the camp system is that it's just not explained in-game. The main character basically has a ring of teleportation to a specific domain and back again. So just explain that's what it is! Or some equivalent function related to the tadpole.

I would like it a lot. Truth to be told I would like to be able to teleport to any point only from another way point.

+1 limiting fast travel just means you spend more of your precious time on mindless running. It's a good thing you can choose either to get rid of the mind numbing running or play a "difficult run" and not use fast travel. Player's choice.

This is true, but... then they could add bedrolls and a fire pit, where the fire pit gets consumed. So you clear part of a dungeon and you only have to back track a little bit to do a long rest. But only allow 1 camp fire at a time in the party. Or the fire pit recharges after a long rest at the camp. This way you can't just teleport whenever you want. Gives you one long rest in a dungeon. Unless you want to do a lot of back tracking. This would just feel a little more like D&D for sure.

If there is one I assume there will be much more

Long resting in dangerous areas should have a chance of being interrupted.

I agree. My expectations of a D&D game were kinda dashed when I first started playing. I was disappointed that the DOS teleportation was in the game.

If we are going to keep the waypoints, then let us have to make it to a waypoint in order to teleport to camp, or give us the ability to camp in the underdark per se.

A newbie can simply reduce the difficulty of the game instead.
I do not want games designed for the lowest common denominator and then be told "if you want an actual challenge don't use half of the tools we have given to you".
