Then it's not BG and should not be named as such. the Baldur's Gate universe has been established. There are assumptions (rooted in actual things that exist) that establish what Baldur's Gate is like. Many of the things in BG3 do not and would not exist in BG1/2. If you make something inside of an established universe, it needs to follow the rules of that setting. It's also not a true sequel, but by assigning it Baldur's Gate, you establish a precedence - to ignore that is pretty irresponsible.
