Okay, so I recently finished a 100-hour playthrough on a single character, in which I gathered almost everything of any value from the entire EA game. That included an awful lot of food items. I decided it would be cool to list them all, and determine how much each of them heals for. So I spent a few hours testing in my camp, which unfortunately meant I had to stab and burn Lae'zel hundreds and hundreds of times so she could continuously stuff herself with food to heal up. Since I only had 1 or 2 units of certain foods, I had to re-load my save and keep doing it over and over. But now I have
datums to share!
(I know, the plural is data, but datums is fun to say. Go ahead, say it out loud right now. See?)
I managed to find
53 different food item types, and a total of
662 individual items across those 53 types. Actually, I found a bit more than that. 662 is how much I had left at the end of the playthrough. I ate food VERY sparingly though, so probably didn't consume more than about 10 food items in the whole playthrough. So maybe I found about 670 or so all together.
Here's what all that food looks like gathered together in an inventory:
(A few of the items don't stack properly, so some of those are actually duplicate icons of the same item type.)
As you can see, all that food is really heavy! This character has NOTHING on her except for food, no equipment at all. So I probably found over
750 POUNDS (this is Imperial measurements, not Metric, by the way . . . hold on, doing some quick math . . . okay, about
340 kilograms) of food, just in the Early Access area of the game. That seems like a lot.
But what about the results of my testing? Right, here we go. On the left, you see the number of that item that I found (minus a very few that I ate), and on the right, you see the range of healing amounts that I got from that item, each item having been tested between 8 and 16 times. They are ordered in descending order of
healiness. (It's a word, get off me.)
Leg of Mutton is the champion of foods! Too bad I only found one of them.

So, looking at these numbers, it seems most likely to me that foods are built in four tiers. They seem to heal for 1d4, 2d4, 3d4, or 4d4 hit points, respectively. My numbers didn't always hit that full range for each item, but it's reasonable to assume that they COULD have, just by analyzing the patterns.
So, this isn't
100% proven, but I think it's quite likely that the following is true, based on my testing:
4d4 HP foods: Leg of Mutton, Pig's Head, Grilled Pork Belly, Whole Chicken, Roughly-Cut Ham, Pork Loin, Pork Shoulder
3d4 HP foods: Grilled Pork Ribs, Potato Wedges, Gruel, Mashed Potatoes, Fish Tail, Fish, Fish Fillet, [Basic Fish], Potato Porridge
2d4 HP foods: White Bread, Sourdough Bread, Waterdhavian Cheese Wheel, Sunmelon, Pumpkin, Spicy Sausage Links, Dried Sausage Links, Carnival Squash
1d4 HP foods: Coffee, Milk, Tea, Red Apple, Green Grapes, Kiwi, Lemon, Sunmelon Half, Orange, Pear, Garlic, Cabbage, Carrot, Onion, Potato, Sweet Potato, Zucchini, Bagel, Baguette, Butterbun, Waterdhavian Cheese Wedge, Chicken Egg, Rotten Chicken Eggs, Dried Pork Sausage, Dried Rope Sausage, Spicy Pork Sausage, Dried Beef Sausage, [Basic Drink]
So there you go, and now you know. Did anyone find any other foods I didn't include here?
