Lawful evil consider their alignment to be the best because it combines honor with a dedicated self-interest.VS
A chaotic evil character does whatever his greed, hatred, and lust for destruction drive him to do. He is hot-tempered, vicious, arbitrarily violent, and unpredictable. His plans are haphazard, and any groups he joins or forms are poorly organized. Typically, chaotic evil people can be made to work together only by force, and their leader lasts only as long as he can thwart attempts to topple or assassinate him. I believe that if the evil side in BG3 had the same colors and motivation as the main antagonist of Mass Effect 3, then there would be almost 50% of those who want to play on the dark side of the force.
About
Jack Harper, The Illusive Man “Salvation comes with a cost. Judge us not by our methods, but by what we seek to accomplish.”
The Illusive Man is the elusive, secretive, and well informed leader of Cerberus. For years, the Illusive Man has been using Cerberus and his immense network of contacts to achieve his goal - that of making humanity ascendant above all other races. He is described as having the best and worst traits of humanity rolled into one man.
He saved our hero in Mass Effect 2, gave us help, treated us well and did not betray us; he has a clear motivation and his own vision of how to help humanity, a desire to control the Reapers in the same way as in BG3 there are hints of the possibility of controlling tadpoles. At the same time, he is obviously lawfully evil and does not hesitate to use any methods to achieve his goal. I was sorry to kill him, especially considering that I chose the control ending.
I realy want to play in a team with "evil" charismatic heroes like Minthara or Illusive Man, go to achieve our goals together and feel that we are a good team. Lawful evil characters put their own goals, their interests above all else, can be optionally violent (sometimes very violent), but they have honor towards their allies.
(this does not apply to goblins, they are minions and cannon fodder)
Along the way, there may be an opportunity to engage in genocide, or act more subtly, depending on the player's style and moral code.
I don't feel like a team with goblins, they are dumb creatures without free will, unlike tifflings. If Drow, Demons, Gityankas were in their place, it would be a serious choice for many - everyone would decide for himself what is "good" and what is "evil". I don’t feel like a team with Minthara now, and I don’t understand if this will be changed in the future. I do not see any "great goals" that could motivate me to genocide tieflings. Moreover, I do not see any goals of this side. I do not see any opportunities for myself to play on the side of the bad guys and have fun, I see that at the end of this route I just feel like a fool. Goblins are trying to kill me, Minthara which I liked and was the only reason for which I killed the tifflings did not come with me and did not give hints to continue our story and romance.
She's being tricked by the Mind Flayers, and I can't help her? If she was such a charming bitch on her own, that would be good, at least she wouldn't try to kill us. But damn, she doesn't even know about the tadpole ...
It should not be. I like this move with an attempt to kill me on the orders of the Absolute in the first act, I don't like the fact that Minthara is a puppet with incomprehensible prospects understand the situation and join the party after. So that together we can play our game, gain power that will not allow us to be someone's puppet, and at the same time will not allow the servants of Lolth to punish Minthara for betrayal. Playing on the side of the mind flayers / Lolth will really be the most evil path, which not many will choose, and what I wrote above will be interesting to most
And also the fact that evil has no motivation like the Illusive Man, it's just an opportunity to be a slave to mind flayers under the Absolute brand in chaotic evil. Moreover, the Absolute is not very interested in our services.
