First of all sorry for bad english! Soo I know the game is in Early stage, but didn't feel my custom character special... So I have an idea. Dnd 5e have multiple background what u can select in this game too and get some features (bonus and dialouge options) BUT I think if we were get an Origin questlines with this backgrounds would be FANTASTIC. Each background with different story and quest line or a new option a selectable origin story idk . This would add some depht to the character to be honest. I know this is lot of work after all Phb have 16 options if I remeber well (less options would be fine if in exhange we got deeper character) but if my background just some bonus and stat its not really deep to be honest and already consider to pick a origin hero later on when it's possible.... Maybe just me feel this way I don't know... this just an idea. Have a nice day everyone!

+1 to this concept. I don't know how feasible it would be, given the resources it would consume, but it would be really nice to have. I loved the origin stories in Dragon Age Origins. It would also be nice if there were small quests/npc dialogues that reflected it a bit.

Jeah 16 background maybe too much but at least a plus option so this or that u know. Maybe someone not want a plus quest line and make the custom charater to an origin hero but for me I need this to enjoy my character more and feel her/him special . after all the origins hero more deeper because of their background not just some bonus and dialouge options all of them have their origin questline..... in this way your custom hero is too simple and boring for me.

I was really hoping they'd do some origin stories like in Dragon age as well. But everyone starts on the nautiloid, it makes the starter area get old fast. I'd love at least a 10-15 minute scene setter to show your character's location, what they were doing when they were captured. But since they are using the cinematic to start, I don't think it'll happen.

I dont have a problem with the start , so DA:O type origin starter questline not fit in this concept thats ture, but that doesn't mean this excludes the possibility to get an origin questline later on what is activate this questline for example in baldursgate (urchin or criminal etc) or somewhere else depends on your choice .

In that game your background options influence a personal story quest you get throughout the game. Iirc each race gets the option of one out of three quests based on background (like noble, thief, etc) with small changes to these quests based on other choices during character creation. It wasn't anything big but it was really nice and encouraged choosing a variety of different backgrounds for your characters. Currently, I choose criminal for all my characters regardless of how I see them in my head just because I like the bonuses you get from it.

In gw2 this is give some connection and plus layer to your character plus could be working very well in this game too to be honest.

In the promotional videos they've mentioned a few times that the custom player character has some "surprises in store" and they're trying to make the player character just as satisfying to play as an origin character. I'm hoping they aren't just talking about the tadpole dream sequences though. Especially since, as things are now, we don't get to see those sequences unless we use the tadpoles power, which I generally prefer not to do.

Probably I'm naive but maybe it's matter if the developers see there is a need for this type of things, or at least remind them... and who knows there is a chance they get some new idea from this idk.

Oh yeah, absolutely. That's what the suggestions and feedback forum is for! A lot of people would like the experience of the custom character to be a little more robust and the more of us that voice it, the better chance it will end up in the game. Here's hoping.
