Hi. I'm new at this kind of thing so bear with me, please.
So far everything about the game seems to be coming along nicely, however, the romances seem to be a bit on the unfair side. If rumors are true about the companions, then I think it is problematic by structure. Rumor has it that there are 8 companions. One male elf, three male humans, one female tiefling, one female githyanki, one female half elf, and one female halfling. I do feel that while it is nice to have a variety I think the female romances need a "normal-ish" counterpart character to the craziness of the others.
The female romances in slightly more depth with a touch of my personal opinion are as follows: one secretive manipulative cleric of darkness (I'm a simple honest guy so that's a no go), one literal hellspawn ( not my thing at all and I tried back in my pathfinder kingmaker day's but I guess I'm just too normal for that but I know some people like that sort of "dance with satanic imagery" thing so no big deal), one githyanki (she is ok in terms of practicality but I strongly dislike the "dominance submissive" theme and in my opinion gith only make good companions if the most of the party is also gith. So I assume Laezel has some unique past because if you are true to being gith then they are hypocritical slavers who Ironically want freedom. In addition, the blind obedience to the lich queen is off-putting as well considering she devours all gith to gain power but I guess that's meta knowledge), I don't know much about the rumored halfling werewolf but the fact that she is rumored to be a halfling is very off-putting for an option to romance ( it forces you to either feel like a , I'm sorry not trying to insult anyone, pedophile or be forced to play a shorter race which is unfair to the player.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the romance spectrum, you have supposedly have three human males and one elf. That alone I think might be a problem. I don't romance males so I honestly feel I don't have the right to criticize something I have no interest in at all and will never explore. So I don't have an opinion on this either way.
I'm not asking to change any of the characters, though I do hope something can be done for us simple people. Maybe add an additional more human or elf "normal" option for females so simple people like me can enjoy the romances while the crazy people can still have their "wild" options. I don't know what's going on in development and don't know what is or is not possible so I hesitate to ask for something more specific than that. Heck I would take a romance with Kahga. She seems to have a lot going on from her current quests in early access. Also contrary to popular opinion of her I quite like her "protect your own mindset". She makes mistakes that are redeemable like how you can convince her to leave the shadow druids. That's fine with me. As opposed to being a full-on cleric of darkness for example. From what little I know about dnd, betrayers of gods and goddesses can break a character. At the very least they are 100% guaranteed to be killed at the earliest convenience of said god. Some based on the gravity of the crime sometimes they become cursed creatures to walk the world in suffering till the god in question see's fit to release them. For example Oathbreakers and Death knights. The afterlife system just has things get worse from there. Like the wall of souls for example or those gross soul worms. I know Wizards of the coast want to move away from the alignment-based things but I personally think that's silly since the past 30-year foundation of the franchise is based on it. I don't know how much of this applies to 5e let alone Baldurs gate so the rumors of shadow heart being a selune cleric in disguise or whatever seems very unlikely to me so far.
So long story short can we get a normal-ish female companion for the simple players. The males have 3 humans can the females just get one or maybe an elf like Kagha or a wood elf. Please. I like Dnd quite a lot so I'm very excited and eager to play this game. I'm excited to be immersed in the dnd world and I think the pinnacle of immersion is attachment to said world and I can think of no better attachment than romance quests. I want to care about my character and about the companions I choose to take with me.
Thank you for your time. Sorry for the ramblings and digressions.
