I had something similar but even weirder happen with an Arka tko.
First I knocked out the tieflings, then killed them on the ground anyway, complete with critical hit animations. Freed Sazza and escorted her out of the Grove, camped to long rest, and returned to the Grove. The refugees were none the wiser until Arka suddenly flung open the door, apparently back from the dead to make everyone outside go agro!
How she even knew we were approaching through closed door telepathy who can say? But she should have just been dead anyway hehe. I think knock out is bugged?
