Which I shouldn't assume anything with this game, but seems kinda obvious these pink clouds represent FOV (that's Field of View) for you non tactical players...of the enemy.

Numerous times however I have had the following happen:
While my pathing is nowhere near a pink cloud, I will have a peep revealed and immediately enter combat. (No visible Stealth check)
Pathing will clip a pink cloud and toon will immediately enter combat. (No visible Stealth check.)
Pathing enters a pink cloud, I have what appears to be some sort of Stealth check, I'm Revealed, I enter combat and now have a image of a white die floating above my peeps head.
I enter a pink cloud and immediately enter combat. No visible stealth check.

There is other random borkynuss...but these are the main things I have experienced.

Also many times sneaking up on large groups and initiating combat will produce a solid black screen and the only way out of this is to restart last save.
I have determined this is when some sort of forced chat is initiated after the strike.
Since I don't really talk to anyone in game this is a huge issue.

So to sum it up, WE need a little more input how stealth is suppose to work.
Are checks being performed even outside of FOV? I mean this would kinda make sense, especially in the case of my fully armored fighter. (Noise factor)
Doubtful this is the case, based on the overall borkynuss of this game however. (I don't think the programming is that clever.)

Are stealth checks only suppose to be performed in a pink cloud?
*shrugs*

Hell I dunno. I can't make heads or tails of the mechanics for stealth in this game.
So much random cr@p going on it's just a guess.
I mean I can jump over (FOV) with no checks and not be revealed ...lol

A fighter fully armored with no dex bonus can stealth just as effectively as a 18 dex Rouge in light armor.
At least as it stands right now. Just avoid (FOV) so it seems. Not that this is still a guarantee.

So in closing. I've accepted this game is beyond borked from a combat tactical sense, just with Jump alone.
Basically turned combat into a cheap B-Rated Kung-Fu Movie.

However, I'd like to know how stealth, in a perfect BG3 game is suppose to function.
And hear it from someone who actually knows, no speculation.
I'd request please, someone NOT explain to me how it works in 5e...clearly that's irrelevant in this game.

Thanks.

It is a little complicated but ill give it a go. Races with darkvision like goblins see a dark area (half sun) the same as daylight within a certain range (60ft FOV). Drow have improved darkvision which shows complete darkness as daylight within a certtain range (60ft). If you are "seen" by the enemy sneaking in full sun though either darkvison or improved darkvision you will be seen, no check. However a rogue assassin from the 8th level gains a feat called "hide in plain sight" which means they get a stealth check even while they are being observed in full light. Outside of specific class benefits you wil be seen without check while sneaking in plain sight. However If you remain "in shadows" (half sun and below) and sneak in the FOV you will gain a steath check based on dex+skill.

If you are outside the FOV and in the shadows (to the racial enemy observing) you should get a stealth check even firing a bow or interacting with the environment. Currently upon firing a bow while in heavy darkness and way outside FOV the entire map aggros you with no stealth ck which is incorrect. I agree the stealth is a bit clunky at times but it isn't far away. Just remember the races with darkvision.

Elf, half-elf, goblins, Drow (get daytime disadvantages btw) and anything in the underdark + many more. Hope that helps mate.
