Where does such hatred for gnomes come from?
I would understand if it was about the tinker gnomes from Dragonlance, but BG 3 takes place in Forgotten Realms.
I don’t know about you, but personally for me, all the gnome (and svirfneblins) characters presented in the EA did not cause hatred or other negative reaction in me.

Gnomes in most games are sickeningly cute and evoke hatred in me.

I also don't like the tinker type that pop up in a few game worlds(Azeroth, Norrath).

They're just gross.

I do not blame, I rather support your opinion.
But I still don't understand how the gnomes of Azeroth are related to the gnomes of Toril. The former were definitely inspired by the latter, but I still don't see any reason to transfer my disgust for the Warcraft gnomes to the DND gnomes.

Jan Jansen was a gnome. If he's still around I will definitely add him to party for another round of Boo kidnappery.

By the way, there is a svirfnebli already in the game and, thankfully, he does not sound at all like a WoW gnome.

I wasn't talking about WOW gnomes specifically (I've never even played WOW or any other online game for that matter) I was just looking for a voice examples and that was one that I found that fit. All gnomes sound similar in all games.

Quayle, Tiax and Jan Janson all have a specific helium like voice that is for some reason associated with gnomes. Even when you go through the voice sets of BG / IWD you can find voice sets that seem most suitable for gnomes. (I have no idea which voice set is from which game anymore because I've always modded them all into each game.)

Quayle and Tiax were played strictly for laughs, and the "helium" tinged voice fits that (although I think that helium is an exaggeration, since both of them have voices that fit the range of adult males, albeit the high end of that range).

Jan Janson was also a joker, but his story had a serious side to it. His voice is on the high end of the range for adult males, but nobody would mistake it for a child's voice or a woman's voice. Helium is definitely an exaggeration here too.

I liked all three of these gnomes, and brought them all along in various BG groups. Tiax for the insane one liners, and Jan for overall funny. The only Faerun gnome that I have contempt for is the one in Neverwinter Nights 2, who was just horribly written.

People hate things for no reason, that said after BG3 i have a serious distaste for Githyanki now.. Horrible race all round.

Gnomes though are awesome i only play Gnomes, Dwarves or Halflings these days..
