Gale's chest problem and the alteration of those tadpoles have actually kind of the same origin. As it's the same all-powerfull cosmological-rule-changing magic.
About the tadpoles crawling out, why shoud it have stay there? Noone were coming to save its host. Personally i'm more curious to know where it's going. And if it can infect people on its own. The dice checks to kill it are very hard, but Halsin was able to study one, so maybe it's not so powerfull on people who are not already tadpoled.
We can always find plotholes in any story, even real ones, but this one so far is very consistent
