playing a female warrior right now and i've been reloading and saving whenever i get along to killing a tough character (to get the best loot...) and i got myself a minor dilemma... after killing the first skeleton summoner (damn hard without using any projectile weapons, potions or long distance spells - although i did use that physical shield spell) a bunch of times i've ended up with a variety of loot, the best of which being #1. a metal buckler with 9 durability, ac 80, 30% chance of absorbing hit with +14 to magic and +1 to hearing (requires 20 strength) and #2. a composite bow that has 23 durability that does 6-67 damage and features +1 to agility and +2 to offense (requires 25 agility)

actually i have a third option i'm considering, a small bow that does 9-32 damage with 26 durability that features +2 to agility and +2 to offense (and only requires 15 agility)... but if i were to go with one of the bows, i think the composite bow would make a better choice (kills "crossbow" skeletons in 1-2 hits vs 3 hits with the small bow)

currently those extra 14 points of magic would be really helpful (one extra summon of that shield plus 4 repairs ) but so would having a nice, powerful bow...

help me decide which i should choose!

PS: currently also have a (crapola) crossbow that fires slowly and isn't nearly powerful enough to compensate for it's slow reload time... so i'm not entirely without projectle weapons but the ones i have seem pretty much worthless (also have 2 EXTREMELY weak bows... totally useless...)...

Im desperate and I usually do whatever it takes to survive. reload 45 times per high level creature except on "insane hard to kill won't happen again creatures" which I just let go cause it takes toooooooooooooooo much time and 400% effort. If your tired of reloading stop the game, take a break and go back on reloading. ID4 and ID5 are choice picks. ID3 are just teases meant to tempt and stop one from going further into the ID4 and ID5.

Take the one thats packs the most punch or take the one with the most enchantments.

This is SpArTa!! oh im sorry, I must have took a wrong turn..somewhere...(runs away)

hmm, how hard is it to find powerful projectile weapons early on in the game?

(they can certainly make the battles a whooole lot easier)

powerful projectile weapon vs extra 14 points of magic (projectile weapon makes tough creatures a hundred times easier but having that spare magic means an extra summon of "physical" shield - and i know i'm not about to waste any precious stats on int... tough choice! both items are equally good...

i keep switching back and forth... it's gonna be pretty tough to find another item that will provide me an extra 14 points of magic - but so far it's also been tough finding a projectile weapon that is actually worth carrying around :P

EDIT: "ID4 and ID5 are choice picks." this is still early on, nothing like that yet... these are actually the best items after hours of reloading... (actually more like 1 hr...)

Any undead with the tile Lord, I was able through tring to get ID5 and ID4 all except the Archer Lord. Well it did for me anyway.............so um i would choose the 14 magic to help you out. Your always going to find a better weapon but carry that equiped with you and you get 14 magic. Well thats my opinion anyway...Good Luck.

"powerful projectile weapon vs extra 14 points of magic"

If that is the determining factor, level 1 of Alchemy will let you mix restoration potions, and a few extra pieces of loot traded will get you more potions. With a better ranged attack, you will also not need to rely on Aura of Guarding or Restoration as much.

"it's gonna be pretty tough to find another item that will provide me an extra 14 points of magic"

I found an amulet at the bottom of the catacombs with +40 Vitality and +40 Magic (took a bit of re-loading). Much of my equipment had either a mana or intelligence bonus (at the end of the game I had 574 mana points, but only 30 without any equipment on - my vitality was 1260, or 444 with no equipment).

in my very first game which was in normal mode life was easy and on the level before the bottom level I found I think it was behind spiderwebs or in a tomb, "Dragon Amulet" of course I can't remember much of it so it must not have been important except that all I cared about at that time was the adventure. Now its either kill or be killed in hard mode and I be lucky and grateful, if I ever find that or live to find that amulet.

Um Have faith

as for the bow, it's all about the luck factor. I found a bow that did some 30-115 damage before I even got to the bridge to Rivertown. Got it off an orc.
