*Spoilers for a flavor event regarding Gale*
So I had a situation where Gale died during a fight, and after combat his 1000 step instructions on how to resurrect him took so long to tell, that another party members death saving rolls failed and they died along with everyone else because of the necrosis damage his corpse is emitting. An important story character is now also dead. This is ridiculous. Not that it has happened multiple times so far, but I can imagine a hundred other potential situations where being forced into cutscenes while other things are happening ingame can cause unnecessary damage to your party. Please fix.
Although I don't mind what you are suggesting, it only solves 1 instance of your problem. Play this game long enough and you will lose downed party members for all kinds of stupid reasons. The real solution is the game shouldn't kick out of turn-based mode while any party member is down.
