I'm probably just making stupid conjectures and presumptions, but while Hellbird and me were taking a look at the site and screenshots.
First obvious thing is of course the fact that when you enter the site, there are 2 persons at the top of the site, the deathknight on the left. The one on the right, wearing something like a t-shirt: you. Someone already pointed this out, I know, and you could argue about it being a modern t-shirt or not, but it looks very modern to me. So, the deathknight and then you. So, you are a modern person? On the other hand, that also doesn't fit in with you being able to be a female character, but I guess that's a design thing.
So I guess the deathknight is always with you and since there's "total control of party members" in the FAQ, you can control him, right? So we'll be basically playing with 2 characters instead of 1? But how does that work for a game that keeps using the "real-time combat system"?
Now, then about the 'modern' setting. First of all, the landscape on the screenshots look very much like some Planescape things... Like The Abyss plane even. Not exactly modern, but also not exactly the more medieval Divinity style, imho. So, are we going to run through universes? Then maybe we accidently got stuck out of modern time in some other universe, with a deathknight connected to us?
And then there was the rumour about a part of the city of Gent being recreated in a future game by Larian... ?
