Umm, Gale is wizard, Shadowheart priestess of Shar and Wyll as Warlock. Their classes are part of their stories, and race may play a role as well not only for Laezel lub also for SH, as she has her past burried and in the Hag's mirror cutscene she can choose to show her parents-guess that's some hint. More freedom for Astarion only really.
