I chose a male warrior as my starting character. So far I am having a lot of fun. A very compelling game to be sure. One thing though. Being that I specialize in Swords, I am a little worried about not a single good sword dropping after finishing with the Catacombs. I have around five really cool axes, two good maces, and a couple of good staffs... not a single sword that was as good as the standard Short Sword. I really prefer the sword look on my character. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I'm having the same problem. I haven't found a single good sword yet, although I've bought one. I mostly find Dagger, Staffs, Spears, Maces, and Axes from monster drops and chests.

Do not worry young one. Can I call you young one? Well, it's a little to late not to call you that. There are plenty of awesome swords in the game. You can even buy some awesome ones from Ars something or other. If you know the full name of the town im talking about. Please let me know. Things like this bother me. There is plenty of sword drops. Basically all the axes in catacombs are friggin awesome. Sad thing though is there isn't much axe/hammer drops after catacombs. In my opinion swords is the best weapon skill in the game. Bows can be good also. I wouldn't rely on getting some good one's till way later in the game though.

Don't read any further unless you want to read a SPOILER. There is a great sword you can get around level 15-20. Head to the Dark Forest. Once there start clearing the map all the way to the right. If you reach the edge of the map go down and start clearing back to the left. Once you get back to where you started. Go down some more and clear to the right again. Repeat until you find the sword in the stone. Save before you pull it out though. You may want to reload to get better stats. Also beware of the ghost that appears after you pull out the sword. He is one tough bastage. If you are level 15-20. He can tear you apart in 2-4 hits.

Nooooo!! Don't use the sword in the stone! (Bad advice, bad!) If you release the sword before doing all of the Elven town quests quests will be broken, and you'll lose out on a lot of experience. Plus you lose out on reputation points, and you might get killed by the ghost. You should instead just go to Ars Magicana (the merchants area in Rivertown), go to the Smith and reload before you talk to him for the first time. Once you find the sword that you want in his inventory, buy it (otherwise reload). Another great sword is the two-handed Sword of Chaos, which is near the Dwarven Forest in a cave-like structure, underneath lots of rocks and boulders. There are only a few orcs, snakes, puppy dogs (heh) and bees around there, so you should be fine fighting them.

Half the time I don't even swing my sword before my enemies drop. I usually freeze them then throw tons of spells at them. If they happen to get to me one slash with the sword drops them.

I don't even freeze them. I just go invisible, waqlk away, turn around, and level the area with spells! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I am not that supreme yet. Only level 20 at the time being. I assure you I am very powerful though.

They'll learn in time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> They'll learn to complete the quests *first* and then go mess with the sword. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" />

Yes, I had no idea there was a quest for it though. I was just exploring and, happened upon it.
