You have full control of the party.
I'm glad they decided to go with this one. AI for NPCs is not that great in most games, and since there are only two in the party most of the time, it shouldn't get too troublesome for micromanaging. Also this means that we can equip the two characters, develop them differently (one mage, one fighter, etc.) and have them work more effectively with each other in battle.
