It looks like we are once again involved in saving or destroying the world and the tadpoles play a big role, no time for killing a pack of wolves for 10 gold and a healing potion.

A Prologue would be nice though and I can relate to the tadpole idea not being developed enough and being too sudden.

There is time, though. The party uncovers an aera area that must be pretty big in-universe from top to bottom. I guess the game tries to explain away the fake urgency, but to be honest right around the Underdark i started questioning the tadpoles as a plot device. I understand narratively they give a reason to all kinds of different character to play nice to eachother, but at the same time the quests and world just feel like a big random adventure. Like, help the groove that's being attacked by goblins and there's also shadowdruids. Meet a good mindflayer by befriending plant people and get ingredients for him by going into a magical tower in the Udedark (very cool, btw).

The whole dream thing is also pretty weird. Feels like something that should happen in act 2, not in act 1 when you're trying to sell me on the whole urgent-but-not-too-urgent thing.

All in all it doesn't bother me too much, and it's too soon to say something else would be better, but i sure hope they sort it out.

Well said.

There is the foundations for more options.

It doesnt have to be something where everyone is infected.

In the end, larian will do what they will do.

But i hope they figure out something more robust.
