Warning! It is said that reading from the ancient and blasphemous Necronomicon can lead to an unraveling of the mind, and indeed there are few who have read its pages but have not lost their senses to realities far beyond those of the mundane world we believe to surround us. Please stop here if your sense of reality is fragile, and so spare me the grief of infusing your soul with irreparable corruption! But if your curiosity compels you to put the fortitude of your own mind to the test, then please proceed. The Necronomicon text itself is widely feared and rarely quoted, but HP Lovecraft did provide us with one small section in his story, "The Festival", which may have a vestigial relevance to BG III as follows:

"The northernmost caverns are not for the fathoming of eyes that see, for their marvels are strange and terrific. Cursed the ground where dead thoughts live new and oddly bodied, and evil the mind that is held by no head ... for it is of old rumor that the soul of the devil-bought hastes not from the charnel clay, but fats and instructs the very worm that gnaws, till out of corruption horrid life springs, and the dull scavengers of earth wax crafty to vex it and swell monstrous to plague it. Great holes secretly are digged where earth's pores ought to suffice, and things have learned to walk which ought to crawl."

Language is a wonderful thing because it can convey fact as well as feeling.
