Hello there. smile
Maybe this topic is not exactly for Larian, but more like for some experienced moder, that would like a little challenge ...

Anyway, i was reading some posts and i noticed that some people are frustrated with RNG in dialogue options ...
I was thinking ... and i probably thinked something totally crazy, stupid, and nonsencial ...

Yet, here it is:
What about creating some app, mod, plugin, or w/e (yes, you probably guessed it, i have litteraly no idea how to do such thing) ... that would be able to recognize number on actual dice trough webcam, or some simmilar device?
And then use that result instead of ingame dicerolling? O:)

I know what do you probably thinking right now ... that sounds like extremely easy exploitable system ... and you are right!
Except the fact that we can simply reload last quick save and have the exactly same result, especialy if there will be mid-conversations quick saves in full release.

So... on scale 1-10, how stupid idea do you think this is? laugh

It sounds fun, actually, but I have no idea how technically possible it is.

On a similar idea, one thing I would like to suggest to Larian (when my feedback reports are ready ...), is to improve the visuals in the dice roll screen (during the conversation skill checks).

The video game adaptation of Pathfinders : Adventures Card Game has a much, much better dice roll screen :
- You get to roll-away the dice with your mouse (more fun than left-click).
- You get to see the dice actually roll around, instead of rotating on itself, floating in space.
- You can choose the colour of your dice (I know, this is the ultimate nerd feature ... but the red die is boring).
- The duration of the dice roll is slightly shorter. It feels just right. In BG3 it feels a bit too long if you wait for the animation to complete. And it feel like you're playing a cash machine if you stop the animation with a click.
- Once the result is in, you have it on screen for a short while. I think it disappears automatically afterwards. Can't remember. Anyway, BG3 should provide the option to have automatic transition from the dice roll screen, or click-induced transition. (Obviously, people who will be streaming will want to linger a bit and react to a failed roll. )

Im kinda fine with clicking ... you can also roll with spacebar (and maybe other keys).

Interesting idea, though I dunno how feasible it is.

Related, a small thing that might help is if they allow us to change the dice roll visual to be different things, like a d20 rolling across the screen, how it shows the target roll number, it could change that to showing the target overall value and showing us roll a d20 +x +x, so on and so forth.

I think a system would be cool like in Fall Guys, when eleminated people are getting pushed off in that sequence.

The Dice (four of them with a maximum of 5 points each?) fall down and then we know the result.
Yeah I have to say the current rolling feels false, rigged and pre-determined.
Just because there are these few events in the game we absolutely want to win, we reload and the result is SO OFTEN around the same failing amount since the first time we attempted it.

But I have to say, probs. If a character has low charisma and a charisma throw comes, the hurdle truly is that much more hi- eh I mean impossible. ;]
