Hey guys @ Larian, loving BG3 and Divinity 2 is among my top 3 all time
I have this bug where I get a random slowdown/FPS drop when using the Vulkan engine. DX11 works fine, but is very laggy/choppy/low FPS on Ultra/high so I prefer to use the Vulkan engine. Vulkan runs perfectly on Ultra other than a random FPS drop I get on reloads/fresh loads. Again issue is only on Vulkan and I am trying to figure out why
It can happen when the game is freshly loaded, and just be lagging right off the get go, but if I completely restart the game it can go away
On a fresh reboot and load, game will run good until I reload a save state, randomly (1 in 3?) reloading a state will cause a large FPS drop
Also upon fresh reload and reboot, there is a 1/4 chance roughly the game will be lagging/FPS choppy right off the bat
My system is a 2080ti, Intel I9 9900, Windows 10 Updated, Predator G-Sync 34" monitor, 32 GB ram, 1TB SSD, basically top of the line system
I suspect it has something to do with frame rate, non G-Sync, syncinc the monitor, as when FPS drops, my asus GPU monitor also drops in performance measurements (GPU Tweak II) and GPU usage also drops to about 40-50% of capacity
Either that GPU issue, or there is some kind of memory leak that occurs on reloads/loads
I have tried googling the issue but I cant find much on it, so I am assuming the people this is happening to is limited..
Have set CPU priority to high, have tried lower settings (same 1/3 1/4 probability of lag on fresh load or reload), Admin access for .exe
Also have tried disabling my Corsair KB software, and disabling Malwarebytes
Also have bg3.exe, and larilauncher, bg3_dx11.exe set to run as admin
Any help is appreciated! Again, game is too laggy/choppy in Dx11 settings, issues occur on Vulkan, I am assuming it will be fixed as the game progresses, but thought I would bring it up
Also have tried Vsync double and triple buffering, no difference
My monitor is 100 hz/fps and I have tried limiting the frames to 60/100 and still same probabilities in the FPS drop
Anyone else having this issue? Or manage to fix it using Vulkan engine? Thanks! Any help is appreciated!
Update: also had slowdown when selling to merchant. Truly seems random and unpredictable
