This was a bit annoying when I ran into this: during the fight with the Flind and the gnolls, one of my characters was downed. That same turn, I killed the flind and combat exited. It immediately cut into the conversation with Rugan so I couldn't help the downed character, who then died while I was having a conversation.

My suggestion is to have downed characters auto-revive after combat ends if a companion is within range. Alternatively, don't make cut scenes/conversations trigger automatically like that. Make me talk with them if I want to talk.

Having characters auto-stabilise, or get up with 1hp, when initiative ends is an acceptable video-game compromise, I think.
The more rule-close alternative would be to not allow initiative to end as long as there is a character making death saves.

I'd be happy with either fix, honestly.

I like the idea of keeping initiative going as long as someone is downed.

I'd be fine with keeping initiative going too, that's a good solution as well. I'm just glad it wasn't Gale that had died. smile

I keep thinking this every time I play. It would be nice to have characters auto-revive with 1 hp if they pass all three of their saving throws. Sometimes my characters are spread out and I can't get to the downed character so it may be closer to the tabletop experience but it feels counterintuitive in a video game.

There is one tiny problem ...
Imagine you keep combat runing while anyone is downed ... you use help, and he stand up with 1hp ... no one downed, conversation started ... but that one character is poisoned, or standing in fire, or is Astarion and is standing in water ... and while you are talking, he is once again dead.

Autostabilize out of combat on the other hand, keep your comanions relatively safe ...

Better option here is simply let players end combat manualy ... when last enemy dies, you simply switch to forced turn mode, difference here is that in this case player is the one who decide how many another rounds he want to have ... that way player can heal all his companions at will, and place them on safe ground ... and then care to other matters.

Or there is one more option, potentialy best one, but i gues it could meet certain multiplayer problems ... and that is concidering whole world around conversations to be in turn based mode ... and acting in single turn while conversation is runing, that way none of your companions can die no matter their status, or enviroment.
It would also be solution for some stupid situations like in mage tower, where your main character is talking to Bernard, and other characters are allowed to run around the room and even start combat with his helpers. :-/
