Hi,

What do you think being able to roll our Hit Dice during short rest ?

Actually short rests are very cheap and the player has nothing to do.
But D&D allow players to do things during short rest... In exemple roll their Hit Dice to regain HP, use a few feature like Arcane Recovery, ...

What do you think of a menu that opens when you take a short rest in which players can choose what to do ? (related to their classes/sublasses/...).

I don't know... I.E, something like that (sorry, it's in french)

This would make sense, this would add a great value to short rests that would become a gameplay element instead of a healing potion and it would increase the ressources management (especially now that we have 2 short rest / long rest - you'll have to choose when to use your arcane recovery and/or your hit dice)

What do you think about it ?

I would say both of this are good ideas, second one is cool even. Some animations of short "camping" on the place would be nice also. A mini-game of dice with companions maybe?

agreed a short rest "15 minutes ish" as far as the second would be enough time for spellcasters to earn back a low lvl spell, love the rolling hit dice, maybe the cleric uses medice, or gets nearby herbs

Not sure about mini games or animations/cinematics. I guess that's on Larian's hands but the rest mechanic of D&D is a real and an interresting part of the game.

That kind of window could really suit a D&D game, but also a strategy video game.
It's even more interresting now that we have 2 short rest/day because features and hit dice are reset after long rest. It's more choices and decisions.

I'm not usual enough with D&D to create a list of things players/classes can do during short rest that could be implemented in "the short rest gameplay mechanic" of BG3... But I really think it could be a good addition.

Rest has always been criticized by players since the beginning of the EA because... Let's be honnest at the moment it just suck...
Larian has something to do about that and I guess offering players something more true to D&D could really be an awesome improvement.

With the amount of food I'm finding I don't even really need to take short rests. I just do it because it's quicker. This wouldn't really change anything fundamentally without reworking the rest mechanic to be more restricted. I wish they had much bigger areas with rest restriction, but I know it would probably turn a lot of players off.
