Thank you for that information, it's reassuring to hear that a similar mechanic will be in place in BG3.
Personally I am fine with outlandish companions/backgrounds but when the whole party is comprised so, I'm not so keen. In BG2 we had Aerie, Haer'Delis and perhaps Viconia who fitted that bill, in terms of unusual race anyway.
I've never been particularly into romances in RPGs anyway so when everyone wants to get in your pants it's just tiresome. I wouldn't complain so much if it were the case in real life however.
