Hi.

When I click play through steam the game launcher window appears but then immediately disappears.

Things I have tried:

  • Repair option on steam
  • Restarted the computer
  • Windows update.

I am on a completely new laptop with Rtx 2060 and AMD Ryzen 7. Newest Nvidia graphic drivers.

Happy for any help I can get! I love Larian and BG3, just wanna play!

ps. This forum gives me really early 2000s vibes, and I love it!

I'm having the exact same problem in GOG. Larian Launcher crashes immediately after starting up. This started happening Patch 3 that came with Community Update 11.

Fix plz Mr. Larian.

I'm getting this same issue. I have attempted to repair the install through Steam, re-install through Steam, restart the workstation, and re-install on a different drive. The launcher appears to start up, but then crashes after about 2-3 seconds. According to my Event Viewer, this is what I'm getting:

The Cef distribution seems to be out of order.
you can get the correct files for the version distributed with BG3 here https://www.nuget.org/packages/cef.redist.x64/79.1.36

just
* download package
* rename to .zip
* open and copy everything from the CEF folder into the Launcher folder of your BG3 installation

Do remember to make a backup of your Launcher folder before messing with it.!

That should fix it, well it did for me anyway.

I know how you feel, but it's about as official as it gets (until Larian patches).
The library in question is not from Larian, but rather consumed by them and subsequently redistributed with BG3.
The package I linked is from the official Nuget repository, which of course may not mean anything to you if you are not into programming, but it's the, most official release of CEF that I could find.

I tried that as well. Still having the same issue. =(

But, after reading another post from someone who's having the issue with GoG, I was able to launch Baldur's Gate 3 from the .exe in the bin folder and play it. But, the launcher still crashes.

Yes, running the game exe form the bin folder works nicely.

Do you have the same error as @Hagenek above?
And more to the point, does the error just before that one in the event viewer state something about loading an image in wrong format?
If not, then this is probably not directly applicable to your case, and it would seem that the launcher has more than one problem.

I'm also able to play the game from the bin folder but the Larian Launcher is still crashing.

Seems like updating Windows to the latest version did the trick. Now the Larian launcher is working just fine.
