I would prefer a headband of intellect + 2 oven an item that sets into to 18.
A +2 bonus has the same benefit for everyone, no matter if arch age or complete idiot.
Most players will max out the main Stat of their char. So it's useless for wizards but it gives a huge bonus to several skills for many chars plus its very powerful for half casters, like eldritch knight.
