Other than bumping Gale or your own created mage from 16-17 to 18 INT, the INT gimmick build (which is really the only build that can take full advantage of the INT 18 headpiece) is just that, a gimmick build that will assuredly become obsolete once Act 2 and beyond is released; thus, making the INT18 headpiece redundant. Assuredly, a Wizard is going to eventually need more than 20 INT as the Acts progress and play out. Possibly same could be asserted for an Eldritch Knight but only time will tell given a full release of the game. Invariably, the INT 18 headpiece is going to become a nothingburger after a full release of the game, IMHO. Its value is limited in EA Act 1 other than for making the INT gimmick wizard tank build or bumping your created character's (or Gale's) INT to 18 from 16 0r 17 and allowing you to pick another feat other than the one that gives you stat bumps.
