I made a character with the performance feat hoping to be able to play the various instruments available only to find they are not playable. I wouldn't expect a broken lute to be playable, but perfectly fine lutes or flutes should be.

Yeah, it would be a nice addition. At the very least be able to equip them (because bards) and maybe (as bards) get different sound effects depending on what instrument you are using.

Misc animations for playing would be good for atmosphere too.

Would love that. And I can't wait for bard class for us players.

It would be nice if characters could have non combat skills that would allow them to play music and craft things. Would be cute to have a burly paladin learn to sew or play the lute, for example.

Big +1 here. I don't want all the junk items to be given a use. I'm not asking for the option to have Gale make better meals with better cooking items. But in this game, there are music instruments, a Bard class, and a Performance skill ... It would be a pity if we couldn't have our characters play these music instruments.

Omg, this. I found a lute in game and carry it on my Tav, even though there's no real reason to. I like to think during down time, he busts it out and messes around on it.

I was pretty sad when I found out I couldn't play the flute that you can find.

I've found 5 - and two bows but no violin, and two lutes (along with several broken lutes). Being able to play could be a fun nice thing to do - perhaps playing as you stroll - bards will need access to them to do their bardly magic - and I also see it as a good thing to do to create a distraction for a thief to close in and pickpocket a distracted individual. There is a lot you can do with the instruments if they simply implement it.

Uuuu, are bows any good? Heavy, balanced or light? Baroque or modern? Who is the maker?

Dang, I wish we could identify the instruments. Have the whole economy and auction system. Get ripped off in an instruments shop, getting sold cheap orcish manufacture, posing as elven antique.

Knowing how much the guys at Larian love music, I fully expect bards to actually take out an instrument of some kind and play a short tune. Bonus points if I can use said instrument to bash goblins in the head.

So many crpgs take the lazy way and spawn a tiny music notes fx or play a single note. Boring.
