I have been using a trainer, so I was able to get into an exceptionally long battle in the . The scenario is I killed the Hobgoblin True Soul, despite no one escaping and destroying the drums everyone was my enemy at that point. I moved in to fight the Drow, and she acted abnormal by mistystepping to the ledge connecting to the next room and rallied the goblins there to join in. Soon you have everyone pouring in from every direction sans drums to summon them. Well, my melee specialist got hit by a an explosive arrow and got knocked down the pit so died despite invincibility. I killed Laezel to try to please Shadowheart and so I was stuck with Gale, Shadowheart, and Astarion, with all spells exhausted, to take on Gut and the Drow together with tons of backup - invincible or not. But getting on to where the bugs show - the first mentioned opponent used mage armor around 15 times and healed around 10 times - suggesting these are both cantrips rather than something they have in a limited quantity like monsters are supposed to have. Who knows how many buffs she handed out each turn. The other also healed around 5 times. That is overpowered, not a valid conflict - of course presuming I wasn't cheating myself. The cantrip issue is something that needs to be addressed. I think I went around 50 rounds to beat everyone which included running around the place with dash since five goblins were perched on the ledge and the ladder up from my side got destroyed - I also fogged it to limit them and couldn't mistystep up there with Astarion. In addition, I have seen that Shadowheart had a 30% chance to get a successful melee hit against the latter enemy. She missed 12 times in a row with that same chance, before getting a hit. There is a 1.4% chance of that happening by the dice. Lots of unlikely constant misses there - she also missed one of the goblins, with a 50% chance, four times in a row once they were down to 2% - a 6.25% chance. A lot more missing than expected on other high probability hits, but not nearly as disparate from the stated odds when it was likely. I may have accidentally downloaded the Wil Wheaton version of the game - but otherwise, despite my suggesting that unlikely things just happen in another thread, I think the numbers may be off and may need to be examined where a glitch may exist. 1 in 100 encounters may have that single miss in a row streak, but when you start adding them up it becomes much more likely the game is not working properly than that such bad rolls would come out that many times over the course of the fight. It's possible that it's just bad luck, but more likely the rolling subroutine needs some fixing.

In fact, I'm going to suggest that during Early Access, that the last 100 dice rolls are available at any given time, both in succession and in bar graph form where we can see how they've rolled.

Reviewing a battle with gnolls, there was once again a 1 in 1000 rate of misses on my side, but then I also saw a gnoll miss Shadowheart 6 successive times with a ranged attack (3 attacks per turn). I'm not sure what the gnolls percentage chance was - her AC was 15 with a +2 dexterity bonus, but no idea of the gnoll's attack bonus on those.

In release there will be different difficulty levels so there is that. After several playthroughs mastering builds, mechanics and strategies I am looking forward to turning up the difficulty. Had to reload a half dozen times trying to get Auntie Ethels hair just now because forgot and killed her before she ran through the fire place and then kept dropping her downstairs before triggering her offer. The HP range where she negotiates vs dying is so small.

It is possible that the trainer caused some of the cantrip issue when I didn't realize. I had infinite uses for items on (didn't really use it and all useable things were on my dead character), and so it is possible that the different actions could be due to the game sloppily coding spells as items instead of cantrips - or proper spells for that matter. I turned it off when the gith kept using the invisibility potion, reminding me I had that on.

Mage Armor does not Stack. Nor is it a concentration spell. Can only be removed with Dispel magic and longresting. Them doing it 15 times does nothing.
Shadowheart should not be in Melee. shes a trickery domain cleric. Clerics are spellcasters. Shadowheart can only use a dagger well( Simple weapons proficiency + her dex bonus).Unless at lvl 4 you took a feat to give her prof in a finesse weapon, she isn't going to hit anything, nor should she be. She should only be casting, and long resting when depleted.

When it leaves you with only rare hits and she is healing up the damage you can do every other turn on top of adding mage armor, it is a big thing.

Gut doesn't have Mage Armor(unless she has a scroll). She has Shield of Faith. The Absolute's Warboard(I'd already looted her body before I raised her this playthrough) gives her Absolute Protection, which is Shield of Faith as a bonus action. The Absolute's Talisman heals her for 1d8 every time she does damage below 25% hp. She also has 7 level 1 and 5 level 2 spell slots. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/q75mOpi.png) edit: Upon further inspection, you're right. The only spell she has that actually consumes a spell slot is Mirror Image. She can do Shocking Grasp, Healing Word, Shield of Faith and The Absolute's Hand an unlimited number of times. Minthara's spells consume spell slots normally, so I think this may be an oversight for Gut.

priestess gut can be 2shotted by shadowheart alone(guiding bolt/inflict wounds). you burning through her spells prior to fighting her is completely down to user error. you should always be focusing down casters first(wizards/clerics/sorcerers/etc)

Ladies and gentelemen.
First of all true that use spells with Shadowheart. Secondary her stats at Baldurs Gate 3 wiki pages are wrong.
Her stats are currently: Str 15, Dex 9, Con 13, Int 10, Wis 16, Cha 14
At level 4 you can raise her STR to 16 and DEX to 10 and she will act very well as secondary tank already before that. Forget about finesse weapons nonsense and dagger use that is really bad advice!
Shadowhearth is MELEE strength based Cleric fighter when all spells are used... and you can fight and cast a spell as one action round. Shadowheart should use Mace or some other weapon that she is proficient with+shield, but absolutely not a dagger.
When facing really dangerous opponents say a HUGE Ogre or TROLL or Giant best tactic is though perhaps not rush in with Shadowheart try kill it from distance... but as secondary tank she is not bad though not super good.

Shadowheart stats got changed in a recent patch so she has 15 Dex now instead of Str.
Shadowheart is still a great tank and can safely be in melee range. No need to melee attack with her at all, Lvl 1 inflict wounds does up to 30 damage and gets advantage bonus to hit from backstab. Don't waste her spells on weak minions, just walk straight up to and behind the boss and kill them in 2 turns with inflict wounds backstab. With Shield of Faith and Lae'zels armor she has 21 AC, no need to worry about her being attacked.

It's DEFINITELY not a Melee cleric. Melee Cleric is Forge Domain, War Domain, Death Domain(sort of), etc. SHADOWHEART is proficient in ALL SIMPLE weapons. Simple weapons INCLUDES daggers(With her 15 DEX + Proficiency. She will have +4 To hit, with a Mace +2. Bump that Dex 1 higher and its +5. But YOU should not be in Melee( and plan on using a weapon) with a Trickery domain Cleric. Guidingbolt does 4d6 at Range, and Inflict wounds ( close range) does 3d10 all at LEVEL 1. I've solo'd this game as a cleric , you play her as HIGH AC caster. If you're in Melee, you're only there to Cast Inflict wounds. That's it. You're wasting action economy by attacking with a weapon. unless, you cast your spell, switch your shield to a weapon, and bonus action your offhand. edit: Also in the game files, there's this weapon. perfect for shadowheart maybe in the future Dagger of Shar

I found those fights pretty easy, although falling into the spider pit does complicate things.
There are generally enough elemental arrows, poision, scrolls and explosive barrells around that you can still win fights like that even if you are out of spells.

I rarely use spells with shadowheart, I don't sleep often so they are used primarily for fights that go south or bosses. I got her the weapon master feat and I do melee with her quite a bit using steelforged. With the feat she also has proficiency in heavy crossbows and I think rapiers. Mostly I use her spells for guiding bolt or healing word against tough bosses or of someone goes down. To be honest I liked her better as a strength cleric because she could throw goblins and halflings with a 16 strength.

Though it would have been much simpler if I had the spells or if my melee fighter was still there - the fact that a character has non-cantrip spells as cantrips is problematic and may cause much larger problems down the line.

What is the problem? Seriously!
The only problem is that ALL GOG.com players have slightly older version of the game. This will be fixed sooner or later.
What happened to me? I came to this GUT Goblin female leader place with following party: 1. My character Elewyndyl male Wood Elf Cleric Light Domain (my favorite domain not yet added but this is playable). 2. Shadowheart female Cleric Trickery Domain. 3. Lae Zel female Fighter. Seriously I would like to have romance with both Lae Zel and Shadowheart. 4. Will male Warlock who is slightly annoying he does not want any diplomacy ever with Goblins, but so far he seems the only Good alignment character despite being Warlock.
What happened I attacked Gut and his party and on accident at same time aggroed a NPC party nearby (possible because I have chosen to help the Thieflings?).
I killed GUT all her helpers + everyone of then NPC party that I by mistake got attention during the fight towards GUT and her party on top of that with first try no LOAD needed.
I need one challenge level ABOVE NORMAL Larian please include it!
Well have I succeeded in every quest? Hell no example I tried to save the Gnome (with the Goblin party at Windmill I did diplomacy ). However when trying to save the Gnome I actually triggered that the Gnome was launched and flew away to his death. Well instead of taking LOAD I accepted that and laughed aloud. That rescue sidequest ending still brings a smile to me.

Update now my Cleric Shadowheart stats has updated correctly noticed that ingame. Well ok tactics for this particular fight. A. Do not try take this Drow first out she has more then 50 hp and she is Drow Cleric can heal herself a bit and yes she is meant to be tough above your level! B. She has some nasty spells you have to keep in check your health with characters... in melee she is not that great. C. Kill the Goblin that rushes out first fast. D. Well the Drown is tough I give that, but on first try I killed her. E. You should have at least one melee character send that one to meet Drow after the Goblin that rushes out is killed but keep the health ok do not go near of course if on very low health. Drow Clerics Mirror Image (probably a domain specific spell) well keep simply attacking they will disappear. Well so what you can not target her with all kinds of stuff when she has mirror image? Whatever find out what works and keep attacking until images disappear. F. If you wonder what level my characters were when I met the Drow it was level 3. I became level 4 though inside the Temple shortly after killing the Drow before I went to courtyard where everyone had turned hostile towards me after killing all the bosses. I strongly advice not to rush in here as level 2 party vs try the Drow then you have skipped content and entered as very low level party. Story is not over there I then went out after killing all the bosses and finding out Halsin had left in Bear form to Thiefling Village went to courtyard not so well prepared. Lae Zel got downed death rolls in courtyard fight but I helped her... and I killed everyone in the fortress and courtyard... No load needed on first try. I need tougher challenge level then normal seriously.

Fast travel to Blighted Village (typically by the time I have reached point of killing everything in inner Selune's Defiled Temple, I have already killed the Goblin's in Blighted Village making fast travel there safe). From Blighted Village, work your way back to Goblin Camp. You can misty step or use Jump spell and get across to the right side of the Goblin Camp and sneak up to the upper areas to set up the fight with those Gobbos remaining and hostile in the Goblin Camp. And there are many strategies to fighting them outside Gobbos at the Goblin Camp, be assured. I would not go out via the entrance to Selune's Defiled Temple after killing everything inside cause it should be a given they will instantaneously go hostile upon your exit. Play it smart and use fast travel to plan, prepare, and approach the Goblin Camp fight.
