I've been trying to bring these matters to someone's attention since patch #3 dropped and scuttled the character creation menu on Stadia where I play the game as well. I had no problems using their character creator before the patch and it continues to vex me.
I'm right with you guys. The UI is really broken when using a controller. My hotbar doesn't match up, inventory pages don't allow me to select items correctly or appear "off screen", leveling up is problematic as the options appear out of order when scrolling down the the controller and character creation is done 1/2 in the dark as you can't see what you are selecting for some of the options - hair color is the one that seems to be the most problematic right now. I love the game and get around the problem by flipping over to Stadia on my PC where I can use the mouse and keyboard interface to create characters, level up, etc but obviously that's pretty annoying to have to do every time.
